A great deal of my work focuses on religious topics and how classical themes translate into our modern world. Hypocrisy, judgment and bias subjects are the playground of my imagination. I am particularly fond of the associations that accompany the classic religious figures, specifically the female icons. Mary contemplating abortion, Joseph in a lovers triangle and Jesus as the bastard child of a woman who was raped and abused by a man she will never meet. The notions of these figures in any light send the mind reeling, I try to relate them to their own stories. God is in the details and I seek to reinterpret history.
Other projects I have worked on in the past range from education through association, personal addiction and recovery, and the constant bombardment of random ideas in my own self examination. I have experimented with realism, fantasy, pop art and cubism in an attempt to discover my style and have quite happily found my artistic voice displaying continuity in my current methodology and technique.
My works have been in two exhibits in the Philbrook Museum, part of fundrasing effort at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, traveled on university tours and been featured in a national television commercial. I have been a part of juried competitions and was named one of the top 50 modern artists in Oklahoma in 2002. I have also sold work in many public and private venues. I currently live in the Kingfield Neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota and work from my own home studio. I am also a former member of The Stevens Community Art Center and a second year participant in the innovative Labor Room experience at the Center for Independent Artists.
